This Saturday we will have two new separate releases from the adidas Consortium Collection
Limited Edt Superstar
Singapore, October 2017
adidas Consortium reunites with Singapore-based retailer Limited Edt and presents a luxury rendition of the Superstar. The release is a follow up to Limited Edt’s stunning pack in 2015 and coincides with the refitting of their Vault store.
The new store maintains a hidden special section modeled on a bank vault and references the sublime interiors of gentlemen’s clubs decorated in burgundy, gold and mahogany. It stocks exclusive footwear alongside presentations of special editions and the rarest sneakers.
Limited Edt takes the Superstar silhouette and reworks the model to pay homage to their Vault store. While its previous collaboration with adidas Consortium was unequivocally bold, this one plays with contrasts. The outside of the upper is the more refined section. In burnished burgundy and with the stripes removed, it looks reminiscent of a dress shoe. As well as arriving in a similar color to the store’s interior, Limited Edt draws inspiration from smoking jackets and cigar rooms. The grade on the shell toe reimagines the Superstar’s signature detail as though it was part of a leather sofa. The result is an luxurious and understated profile.
The medial part of the Limited Edt Superstar is bolder. It shows a detail from the 2015 ZX Flux which was covered with floral, Batik-inspired patterns. The complex dying method is traditionally used in Southeast Asia and in 2017 Limited Edt incorporates this regional element as an embroidery. In greens, red, gold, and blue, it is a rich and eye-catching explosion of color.
Limited Edt’s ambition was to create a Superstar that was clean on the outside and detailed on the inside – both sophisticated and flamboyant – and it manages to do both. It literally just depends on one’s point of view!

Xhibition – Terrex Tracefinder
Cleveland, October 2017
Opened in 2014, Cleveland’s Xhibition has quickly made a big impression – showcasing high-quality, hard-to-find clothing and footwear from across the globe to the American midwest. Founded upon the ambitions to “inform, educate and entertain”, Xhibition has managed to blur the line between retailer and gallery space; communicating the story behind every brand. Together with adidas Consortium, Xhibition goes a step further and takes the story of Cleveland to the rest of the world.
Sat on the southern shore of Lake Erie, Cleveland is subjected to tough winters. Heavy snowfall and cold conditions make high-performing, technical outerwear a fundamental part of daily urban life. Xhibition presents a Terrex Trailfinder which combines outdoor performance requirements with striking aesthetics – fit for the streets and the ridges.
The model contrasts grey boiled wool with black leather overlays, the result is a compact, weather-resistant upper designed to keep the wearer well protected. A rugged, hardwearing sole is vital for grip but it is complemented by a partially exposed BOOST midsole for further cushioning. Here, Xhibition cleverly co-opts a technology developed for runners and implements it to provide outstanding comfort levels for a new, harsher environment.
While the strap provides enhanced ankle stability, it is also a small nod to adidas’ sporting heritage – evoking images of an era in which most tennis, basketball and running shoes were constructed with this detail to add further support. The strapping has three subtle stripes and with the bright, eye-catching lacing it creates a bold accent against the darker tones of the body.
While developing the model, Xhibition imagined the wearer lost in the nearby mountains of Appalachian Ohio. The goal was to create a shoe suitable for survival. If the Terrex Trailfinder was good enough to survive in the wilderness, then it would also stand up to the challenges of urban life. Designing functional footwear that does not look out of place on a store’s sneaker shelf presents a further challenge, but with smart use of materials and careful detailing the Terrex Trailfinder bridges the gap effortlessly.
