The latest chapter in the ongoing collaboration between Maison Margiela and Reebok fuses signature features of the two labels in the form of Club C Maison Margiela, releasing on Wednesday, March 24.
First launched in 1985, the Club C tennis shoe – the ‘C’ short for ‘Champion’ – has bridged the territories of sports and fashion and is one of Reebok’s most iconic silhouettes.
For the new take on the classic, Maison Margiela applies a house technique, the trompe l’oeil: constructed from a single piece of flat leather, the sneaker’s one-cut upper is printed with a scanned image of Reebok’s original Club C shoe.
Using trompe l’oeil – a deception of the eye – the effect mimics every stitch, curve and shadow of the original 3-D surface, achieving a 2-D optical illusion key to the visual language of Maison Margiela, whose work has historically blurred the lines between truth and artifice.

The Club C Maison Margiela will be available in white and black colorways on Wednesday, March 24. The black version will be available in sizes US 8.5 – 11 and the white one in US 6 – 11.
In-store selection can be found at Beam and the stock will also be listed online.
